Seventeenth Dynasty of Egypt. The Fifteenth, Sixteenth and Seventeenth Dynasties of ancient Egypt are often combined under the group title, Second Intermediate Period. The Seventeenth Dynasty dates approximately from to BC. The Seventeenth Dynasty covers a period of time when Egypt was split into a set of small Hyksos-ruled kingdoms. The First Dynasty of ancient Egypt (Dynasty I) covers the first series of Egyptian kings to rule over a unified Egypt. It immediately follows the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt, possibly by Narmer, and marks the beginning of the Early Dynastic Period, a time at which power was centered at Thinis.. The date of this period is subject to scholarly debate about the Egyptian l: Thinis.

The 17th Dynasty covers a period of time when Egypt was split into a set of small Hyksos-ruled kingdoms. It is mainly Theban rulers contemporary with the 15th Dynasty and 16th Dynasty.. The last two kings of the dynasty opposed the Hyksos rule over Egypt and initiated a war that would rid Egypt of the Hyksos kings and began a period of unified rule, the New Kingdom. With Ahmose, who is considered the first king of the 18th Dynasty, as a brother or son of Kamose, it could be argued that the 18th Dynasty should start with Senakhtenre. The relative calm between the rivaling Hyksos and Theban dynasties came to an end at the latest during the reign of Kamose, the last king who is grouped in the 17th Dynasty.

This list of kings and queens of the Kingdom of England begins with Alfred the Great, who initially ruled Wessex, one of the seven Anglo-Saxon kingdoms which later made up modern England. Alfred styled himself King of the Anglo-Saxons from about , and while he was not the first king to claim to rule all of the English, his rule represents the start of the first unbroken line of kings to. The corpus derives in large part from the Middle Kingdom (about BC) Coffin Texts, and appears first on coffins and shrouds of the royal family in the 17th Dynasty ( BC); from the reign of Hatshepsut (about BC) until the Roman Period (after 30 BC) the Book of the Dead was included in numerous elite burials, written on.

In Ancient Egyptian history, dynasties are series of rulers sharing a common origin. They are usually, but not always, traditionally divided into thirty-two pharaonic dynasties.

The first thirty divisions are due to the 3rd century BC Egyptian priest Manetho, and appeared in his now-lost work Aegyptiaca, which was perhaps written for the Greek-speaking Ptolemaic ruler of Egypt.
